Interval Trainer
Two pairs of notes. Which has the bigger gap? Listen, compare and train your ear.
Both pairs go up from the same note. Listen for a small gap versus a much wider one.
Which interval is bigger?

No timer. Listen as often as you need.
How to practise
An interval is the distance between two pitches. Listen to A, then B, and compare how far each pair moves—not how high it sounds overall.
Choose A or B to reveal the notes and get feedback. Replay either pair to hear the difference, then try the next comparison. Stay on a level as long as you like.
Frequently asked questions
What is Interval Trainer?
A free listening tool for comparing musical intervals. Hear two pairs of piano notes, A followed by B, and choose which pair has the bigger pitch gap. You do not need to name the interval or read music.
Does bigger mean higher or louder?
No. Bigger means the distance between the two pitches in a pair. A pair can sound higher overall but have a smaller gap. Volume, rhythm and your answer speed are not graded.
Why are there question marks?
The first note of each pair is shown. Its second note is hidden so you compare by ear, not by reading the answer. After you choose A or B, both notes and the gap sizes are revealed. Question marks mean hidden notes, not rests.
How do the levels get harder?
Six levels start with wide differences, then closer gaps and differences of one or two semitones. Later levels change the starting notes, use falling pairs and mix directions. All levels are available immediately; there is no pass threshold or automatic progression.
Can I replay the notes?
Yes. Play repeats A and then B, with a pause between the pairs. After one full listen, you can also hear A or B separately. Stop or Escape cancels playback. All notes use the shared Salamander sampled grand piano; sample loading needs an internet connection.
Is my score saved?
No. The correct-answer count lasts only for your current visit to a level. Changing levels or reloading resets it. There is no account requirement, microphone, timer or mastery claim.
