40–240 BPM. Each click is one beat.
The first of every 4 clicks is accented, with a lighter accent mid-bar. The tempo stays at 80 BPM.
Ready when you are. Sound starts only when you press Start.
A steady beat for practice
BPM means beats per minute: 60 BPM gives one click each second; 120 BPM gives two. Start slowly enough to play comfortably, then increase the tempo when you can keep the pulse.
This free metronome plays evenly spaced clicks from 40 to 240 BPM, with a matching visual beat. It needs no account or microphone. Keep this page visible while playing; it stops when you leave the tab.
Time signatures and accents
Choose a time signature to hear where each bar begins. In 3/4 the first of every three clicks is accented; in 4/4 beat 1 is strongest and beat 3 is lightly accented. The tempo does not change: every click is still one beat at your BPM. For 6/8 and 7/8 each click is a quaver (eighth note), grouped 3 + 3 or 2 + 2 + 3.
Three metronome styles
Pulse shows a simple flashing beat. Pendulum looks and sounds like a traditional wind-up metronome: the arm swings to a side on every click, the weight slides higher for slower tempos, and a bell marks beat 1. Digital shows the tempo and current beat on a display, like a practice metronome. Your choice is remembered on this device.
